Earth Day 2007

Yesterday we celebrated Earth Day by doing a ride to benefit a program called b.i.k.e. (Bikes & Ideas for Kids Empowerment).

What is b.i.k.e.?

b.i.k.e. was formed January 10, 1995 for the purpose of providing
opportunities and options for inner-city, at-risk children. It is a
non-profit, tax-exempt organization. Our goal is to provide personal,
athletic and academic success through the medium of bicycles.
The bicycle is a tool that we use to encourage children to race
after all kinds of dreams. It draws out the children's strength
and courage, and challenges their fear.

What a worthwhile program - one that I definitely believe in. The director/founder of the program is quite a colorful personality, but his passion is for this program and for the kids that benefit from b.i.k.e. and I like that.

Will have photos after we do the Ride Around Clark County on May 5. Check out the links to b.i.k.e. and Urban Wineworks.

Bunny On A Bike ride, April 8, 2007

Tom and I participated in our first Easter Ride yesterday...
Bunny Ears are mandatory and the theme was Sunday Best.
Since I had already worn my Sunday Best to church in the morning,
I opted for this floral number...

and Tom...

The ride started out mostly dry and as the ride went it started to rain.
Here's to the next Bunny Bike Ride!

Nancy the Heifer

Today I received photographs from my friend Chris in Boissevain, Manitoba. The photos were of her one of her newest calves that she lovingly named after me. Should I be offended? My self esteem almost plummeted...then I saw the photo...TOO CUTE!
