Here is Decaf after he had been with us a couple of weeks. This is after he discovered the fireplace is a good thing. He simply loves a nap in front of a fire!

Starbucks Crash Ordeal
On the evening of June 3, Tom and I were sitting at "our" Starbucks when a mini-van type vehicle popped over the curb thing, knocked over the disabled parking sign and came crashing thru the window which caused quite a scene inside the store. Tom and I were seated near the crash site, although Tom was sitting in the way of the van trying to get into the store. Fortunately, he was not hurt very badly, just strained muscles as far as we could tell and I was an emotional wreck for a few days following. After some searching the local news websites, it was said that the driver of the van had broken his foot the week before and his leg wasn't responding correctly. Hellooo, if the foot is broken, maybe try to not drive.
Anyway, that was a couple of weeks ago and things are finally back as they should be. We no longer sit in the comfy chairs in the corner, but at least we are back and enjoying coffee beverages and our friends there.

Alternative Transportation
This year has been different as far as our cycling habits. I have been riding to work more often. The weekends have been hit and miss and I miss riding my early morning Saturday rides, but hope that will change soon.
Tom has been riding to work (yes, to work) once a week. This week he decided to participate in a challenge at his office which is to ride, walk or carpool 6 times in the month of July. He will attempt to ride at least 6 times to work, which would be at least 2 times per week. He says there will be prizes...woo hoo!
So, the next time you see a cyclist on the road, give them some room and think of us!

Squirrel Goes on Rampage...
Read a pretty funny story on Yahoo news this weekend...this has got to be true as even I am not this creative to come up with something so crazy...
Squirrel goes on rampage, injures 3
Thu Jun 14, 10:42 AM ET
An aggressive squirrel attacked and injured three people in a German town before a 72-year-old pensioner dispatched the rampaging animal with his crutch.
The squirrel first ran into a house in the southern town of Passau, leapt from behind on a 70-year-old woman, and sank its teeth into her hand, a local police spokesman said Thursday. With the squirrel still hanging from her hand, the woman ran onto the street in panic, where she managed to shake it off.
The animal then entered a building site and jumped on a construction worker, injuring him on the hand and arm, before he managed to fight it off with a measuring pole.
"After that, the squirrel went into the 72-year-old man's garden and massively attacked him on the arms, hand and thigh," the spokesman said. "Then he killed it with his crutch."
The spokesman said experts thought the attack may have been linked to the mating season or because the squirrel was ill.

Happy Birthday to ME!
We celebrated my birthday with some good friends with a lunch at Bethany Vineyards. We started off with a wine tasting and purchased a bottle of the Syrah and the Pinot Gris to go with lunch which was a bunch of little finger food type things and build your own deli sandwiches and Strawberry Cream Cake from Larson's for dessert. We enjoyed a couple of hours of food and fellowship.
A group shot of me, Mary & Robin....
