This summer we got some projects done around the house...nothing terribly huge like a bathroom remodel, but still, little projects that make our home a little more visually appealing. It started with in the kitchen go HERE.

Then last week Tom decided that the old wavy roof covering over our back steps was getting bad so we went and got the supplies to do that. Oh, and before that I had this idea that I wanted to put up drapes between the Living Room and Dining Room - which now are (respectfully) the yoga studio and little TV room. I am hoping that we will be able to better heat the smaller space while we are watching DVD's in that room and not have to heat the WHOLE space. We'll see how that turns out this winter.

Oh, since Tom fixed the roof thing, he decided that the rail should be repaired lest someone grabs hold and then falls over because it was rotted.

It seems that the back entry is the project du jour and now the concrete slab should be repoured since it has been covered with a piece of plywood.

Home Improvement abounds!

Time to Cook!

I love to cook and Tom seems to like what I cook. So it's fun to try new things and buy cookbooks to explore even more recipes from different cultures. My latest new fave would be Vindaloo from Jamie's Food Revolution...SO good!

Being in your 40s

Now that I am half way through my 40s, some of these are true for me. The others, well...can't have it all!

********************************

You get to say the things you used to think about but would never say.

Other times you choose to keep your mouth shut because it just doesn't bother you anymore.

You aren't afraid of having a preference or an opinion, no matter if anyone else agrees with you or not.

You do the things you used to talk about doing but never did.

You quit playing small.

You learn to forgive.

You learn the difference between when to let go and when to hold on tight.

You stop rushing.

You aren't intimidated to say it like it is.

You eat what you want, screw it.

You aren't as worried about getting hurt because you know you can bounce back.

You rarely feel like a fraud in your own skin.

You have earned the right to be an expert in something.

You stop apologizing all the time.

You see the humor in things, especially yourself.

You finally wake up and realize you are as hot as you're going to get in this lifetime, so you might as well enjoy it.

You stop blaming people and get to work.

You learn to say no, so your yes has some oomph.

You stick up for people who are too young or feeble to do it right.

You buy clothes that fit you today and get rid of the old ones in your closet that taunt you.

If your marriage has made it this far, you really love it and take better care of it.

If you're single, you don't settle.

You spend time with the friends who lift you, and cut loose the ones who bring you down.

You stop giving your power away.

You are more concerned with being interested than interesting.

You see the value of being on time.

You get to be in a new age group at races.

You are old enough to appreciate your freedom, and young enough to enjoy it.

You finally know who you are.

Last week was a vacation week for me...just home chillaxin' and trying to right my poor attitude toward the things that have been weighing heavy on my mind. Needless to say, my good attitude was short lived, gotta love going back to work. Really though, work is what it is -  so I shouldn't be surprised. I have to say that it was nice to be away...

The highlight of the week would be going for a group ride on Saturday with our Felida Friends - HERE and on Labor Day we got to go out with Kristen because she couldn't join us on Saturday. The other thing that was really cool was that I got my fastest Time Trial time on Thursday! Which was very unintentional. We have ridden the week TT every week for the past 6 weeks and when I my last fastest time a couple of weeks ago I thought I would just ride to enjoy time trialing and not push it. HAHAHA...yeah, right...I figured out that hanging back during a time trial is NOT possible. I will be posting more on this after this week to my training blog. Last time trial is tomorrow.

Tom was home a couple of days, but we kept it low key and just spent the time catching up with stuff around the house. Most of the time during my vacation I usually have some kind of project to accomplish, but I couldn't think of any one thing that I wanted to do. Oh well...there is always next time!

I am looking forward to my next time away from work...hoping for the week of Christmas. By then I'm sure I'll have all sorts of things to do...

until then, it's WORK, WORK and more WORK!
