Memorial Day Ride

On Monday afternoon Tom and I rode over to Claudson's and we went out for a ride - it was a perfect day! Mostly perfect...bonking is no fun. I was happy to make it home!

Pretty Stuff

PartyLite has some pretty cool stuff. I got this with my first official party as a
consultant - kind of an Open House. I plunked a old Jar Candle into it and put the cute berry wreath around the base to soften up the edges a bit. The color of this piece appears to be black in the catalog and on line, but in reality it's a dark bronze color.
Perfect for my dining room table!

Crazy Weather

Last Friday we had some crazy weather - here are a couple of pictures from when we arrived home from dinner Friday night. I went down to the end of our driveway and took a shot looking to the East and then to the West. Weird that it would look so different in each direction.

Catching up...

Seems like I run out of time by the end of the day to update this blog. It's not like we have done anything out of the ordinary, mostly the same ol' thing day in and day out...to the gym, to work and then home to collapse. Every now and then we do something a little different...Like make HOT DISH!

This may be the second time - EVER - that I have made tater tot casserole. It's pretty easy, but it doesn't fit into my definition of healthy. So I don't think that we'll be having this again anytime soon. The recipe was pretty easy though, 1 1/2 lbs of ground beef browned, half an onion chopped, 4 cups of frozen veggies (I used beans and corn) 2 cans of cream of chicken soup (98% fat free) and TOTS. Baked at 375 degrees for 1 hour, checking after 30 minutes and adding shredded cheese...OH MY!

Yep, healthy never looked so good!

Kinda Quiet Here...

I may have run out of thoughts...due to the lack of posts here. Which really is not the case, I have been posting more to my other blog See Nancy Run-Ride-Run (and Swim).

Once I do my Tri, I think my life will be a little less hectic and I'll post here again about the weird stuff that happens in my life.

I do have one thing that happened this week that just left me shaking my head...had a woman call in to the station and wanted to talk to someone about securing a position for one of our cadets...because of his not so apparent disability...yeah, we don't do that, but I'll have the cadet instructor give you a call back. Which he did, but he ended up talking to the husband. Not only does this couple think we should secure a position here (because all public agencies should do that), we should also help out in getting this kid a TUBA.

A TUBA...

I am convinced that this is CRAZYVILLE!

British Words

When I come across a word that I am unfamiliar with I go to merriam-webster.com and look it up...you know building my word power (ha). I noticed a Top 10 list of British words and decided to take a look.

I LOVE number 5...(I really need to get out more)

#5: Plonk

Definition:

cheap or inferior wine

Example:

"Fine diners are drinking premier cru wines at plonk prices as a bring-your-own booze revolution gathers pace in Britain's best restaurants." – Robert Booth, The Guardian, June 20, 2010

About the word:

Plonk is a shortening of the earlier plink-plonk, and it may be a modification of vin blanc, which means "white wine" in French.

Decaf Maintenance Day

Here's our boy...

He's usually pretty happy, especially when he can be curled up in a blanket envelope in front of a heater.

However, being caged up makes him unhappy...

Unsure who is to blame at this point
He was over-due for his annual physical. So we made a trip to the Feline Medical Clinic...he wasn't terribly thrilled with the car ride.

Decaf: "Where am I?!"

The doc said that he is in good health, a little chubby, but that is the least of his problems since he is an indoor cat. So we are making adjustments, again, in his daily food allotment, plus we need to try to get him a little more active...ugh.

As if going to the vet wasn't exciting enough, we took him for a trip through the car wash. Boy oh boy, that didn't go over very well. He was truly traumtized by the time we got him back home. He pretty much didn't want anything to do with either of us for the rest of the day...until dinner time rolled around.

Next up, bath time!
